What the hell is happening, am I having a stroke?

  • Here come the complaints:

The event ruined the server of Isya, and i'm not even saying that figuratively; nobody can move, everyone was disconnecting, portals broke, dungeons broke ect ect. My guild even had to cancel our DDF plans we planned A WEEK ago due to dungeons lagging out. Poorly thought out event and the fact that we were told to split up and the gm never came to ox field was a low ball move.

I SCed up for DDF and now its gone to waste, I didnt even get to kill a single mob, no chest spawns and an overall waste of time. All of my vendors disconnected and honestly speaking, just a bad event.

It was a shame, I was expecting something more pleasant , with multiple GMs you could have split everyone up. You guys got everyones hopes up for an oldie but goodie event and it ended up wrecking the game even more than its broken already.

I applaud you guys for trying, but I suggest instead of throwing a random event out there without planning, to instead think of how many people play on the epith server before entering. Yea Pagels event went fine, but if you look at the log in screen, it CLEARLY says pagel has a low player count compared to epith.

Sorry, everytime i said epith , i meant Isya.

  • The Gm's as well as myself didn't leave because we chose to, we got disconnected and couldn't get back in, we tried to separate the groups to make it easier on everyone, we do not control the lag in the game. We will be working on a new approach when it comes to Isya and spawn events.

We thank everyone who came around and those who were kind overall. We apologize for the issues it caused for the players and we hope to make it up to you all soon.

  • To be fair... this is now the 3rd time they hosted a World Boss Event?

The only time it was truly successful was when Kuroneko and Akher did the Roumen Market and they had a big map like Old Roumen to use and Pagel and Isya were active at the time so population was dispersed.

The last two time Kuroneko did it by herself on Isya, it did not end well. Compare to any other event she had hosted, the World Boss event has the best results in calling people back to the game and onto Pagel, Enid and Jenira. However, Isya is just simply too overpopulated to do it and I think the GM's have mentioned this before.

Since Kuroneko wasn't spawning, I doubt this was her event. I think she mentioned during the last world boss event that she was more on board with never doing them again. Standard spawn events tend to work out better but the problem is the toxicity of the Isya server. Some of you join thinking the chest spawned are going to be World Boss blues, they're not going to be OP chest... they're just going to be T3 scrolls, T3 Pots and the usual junk.

My only complaint was the fact that they used Elderine this time. Not sure what happened but each and everytime Kuroneko hosted it, she had the common sense to do it away from town unless it was an escort event and the fact she discontinued events was due to feedback/resulting backlash from event performance.

  • I can only speak about Pagel as I attended the event only on that server, where it took place regularly with the hosting team composed of [CM]Nennien, [BT]Seryn and [SGM]Kuroneko.

A total of two world bosses were spawned (Lunatic King Albireo and Hellgate King Helga) along with many other Instance/KQ mobs (Demonic Queen Karen, Temple Guardian, different Eglacks, Depraved Siren's King Freloan, Ancient Dragon Collisio, Hell Dragon, Mini Dragons, Avanas of Khazul, Shaman King Khazul) and few regular mobs types.

The participation was surprisingly high for the server, during the course of event there has been also an increase of people previously busy at SK raid and the addition of a small audience from Isya server.

The atmosphere was friendly and peaceful, even the staff themselves took part in the event by offering buffs, tanking and helping with the dps, which is generally rare in these types of events since everything is left to players.

Few spawn requests were made, some were accommodated and others not: we were denied the spawn of the world boss Shaman Khazul (perhaps also because 2 world bosses had already been spawned) , however the request of a low level player asking for some mobs suitable for low levels was taken into consideration and fulfilled.

At the end of the event the team thanked us for behaving nicely and there was a spawn of GM treasure chests plus some of those Chaotic Treasure chests that spawn inside the Citadel of Chaos Instance.

So as for how the event took place in the Pagel server, I personally can't give a negative feedback cause I think the team did their best trying to please everyone, although I felt that the Shaman Khazul request could have been granted since many had a strong desire to fight that boss.

As for Isya, I read several complaints on Discord due to the fact that the event paralyzed the entire server cause it couldn't handle the massive presence of many players on the same map.

I can definitely understand the frustration and disappointment of those who expected a possible SK spawn and were looking forward for some competition and extra drops, as as well I perfectly understand the anger of those who, although not participating in the event, had to suffer the side effects of a server too unstable to play.

I hope that in future there could be a way to host this type of events even on Isya minimizing the impact on the server.

My suggestion to improve and possibly help the situation for overcrowded servers is to offer Monster Fights events based on different level ranges to be hosted into a seperate map with a gate that guarantees the access only to those level ranges.

    Examples:

    - The Monster Invasion event for players of level 130 ~ 135 will take place on day X at Y time on the Isya server on map Z

    - The Monster Invasion event for players of level 120 ~ 130 will take place on day X at Y time on the Isya server on map Z

    - The Monster Invasion event for players of level 110 ~ 120 will take place on day X at Y time on the Isya server on map Z

    - The Monster Invasion event for players of level 100 ~ 110 will take place on day X at Y time on the Isya server on map Z

    - The Monster Invasion event for players of level 70 ~ 100 will take place on day X at Y time on the Isya server on map Z

    - The Monster Invasion event for players of level 1 ~ 70 will take place on day X at Y time on the Isya server on map Z

I believe this way the the impact of a massive influx of players could be reduced and the event would become an adequate challenge for the level range chosen specificially for the day.

Another suggestion I'd like to give is to introduce T6 scrolls/potions as random item obtainable from the GM chests, I believe offering up to tier 5 makes these chests outdated for current times.

Perhaps it could be considered to offer also those special chests such as the Birthday Box, Halloween Cool Box, Halloween Super Cool Box that used to contain 1 day mixed premium items as small "extra" for some lucky players. evilhoney

Lastly, I'm not sure if thats techinically possible, but it would be really cool if we were given the chance to have the shiny type of mobs to be included in the list of mobs we can request to be spawn, I feel like nowadays it has become really hard to get the titles tied to these mobs so it could be a nice alternative way to help players acquiring them other than boosting the attendance to the event.

  • I +1 this idea, this would definitely disperse the amount of players, as well as treat each level fairly. In my opinion this wouldn't be too difficult to pull off and everyone would be able to enjoy it.

  • I think minty greens' idea is a +1 to everything there. and yes, it would help us to join together without bothering the Staff.

sorry it's Cupcakes' idea. (derp, can't edit it either. but not trying to double post.)

  • Hi Cupcake,

This type of spawn event has been hosted before with myself, Centauri and Auxiliary and other active members of the GM team when we had the numbers to host and manage it.

Unfortunately due to numbers and timeframe, this format of hosting can get incredibly taxing on the health of it's team members. However, since the open format is no longer a viable options for the Isya server, we will take this suggestion on board as we consider other methods of hosting big spawn type events.

As Nennien had suggested ingame, we could consider the option of a open sign up registration, which again was something we've done some years ago with varying result. Either way, a new method of Event Organisation will need to be put in place for the Isya server.

    Regards,

    ~[SGM]Kuroneko

Out of curiosity, how would this be taxing on the health of team members? You could do different days for each level event and interchange mods so that not one mod has to do it every day. In my opinion this would be feasible since it would give the previous moderator a break after the first mob spawn.

I do feel like this is a very viable solution, taking into account that Nennien and yourself actually split up during that last event - meaning that this is something doable as a solo GM.

I do think Minty's idea was a good one but if you staggered the different level ranges then the same attendance problem would crop up from people attending every instance (or as many of them as possible depending on the schedule).

Unless you're a GM, I doubt we're ever going to understand what it is like to manage an event on Isya.

Considering the insults and harassment in roars, shouts, people complaining about lag, mobs and prize and the fact that we would want them to execute the event not just for one day for like one hour but for multiple days or back to back followed up by the fact that it was each week, it would be non-stop work for no pay.

After all the events are hosted for all servers, not just Isya

This is why you utilize the Cyclone Hill map. Only time its in use is during Emperor Slime KQ...

Plus, you are able to separate a lot of Lag and GPU strain thus causing D/C's.

Look, I'm not going to be a stick in the mud here about this...but these kind of events are actually not worth the effort unless you can manage the player output.

it IS possible to run MULTIPLE instances of cyclone hill with a maximum of 30 players per instance. You just need more man/woman-power behind the team leads to be able to pull people into the event.

This is where having actual player moderators comes into play and use here. Take a few people that actually have knowledge of the game, have proven to be useful and leadership material, and enable commands for them to spawn mobs.

"We can't run that kind of risk as if that player has friends in the grouping...this could result in an economy crash...blah blah blah" Ok, I get that...but what other choice do you have with the limited amount of GMs you do have?

There are A LOT of fair-game players that remain, but you guys just need to weed them out and find them properly and not by GM recruitment...because we all seen how that goes.

Frankly...you should just permanently boost the server Drop Rates by 200% on weekends, and a Quest and EXP boost of 20% on weekends for events like this.

OH!...and maybe NO-BREAK NO-DOWNGRADE 30 minute enhancement spree once a month at random? Sure, why not.

Little steps to improve player morale...LITTLE STEPS to coax more cash shop sales...LITTLE! STEPS! to make this game great again...and please...seriously...consider my Gold Sink idea. It LITERALLY benefits the company as well as the players!
